At Randy Buzz Meadery, we believe our process makes our Mead so special. We go directly to the Apiary to pick up our honey, ensuring a farm to bottle experience in every glass. We only use pure ingredients to allow flavors to speak for themselves.
We start with water straight from the foothills of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. We filter our water through an 8-stage process to ensure maximum purity. Then, we heat our purified water to just under 100 degrees and blend in raw Colorado Wildflower Honey. Once the water and honey mixture is fully blended, we drop the temperature down to about 75 degrees to add our yeast and organic nutrients. Finally, we wait for the magic to happen.
We ferment our Mead at cool temperatures and do not use animal-based fining agents. We cold filter and cold bottle our Mead and always store our products at a cool temperature.

We get our honey directly from a family farm of beekeepers in South-Western Colorado. At Randy Buzz, we strive to get the best quality, unadulterated, unfiltered, raw honey. Our Colorado meads directly benefit Colorado families, Colorado agriculture, and bees. When looking for honey sources, we want to see hives at the location and have our mazer shake hands with those working the hives. We aspire to bring you a farm to bottle experience.
Why do we cross the state of Colorado to get our honey? The unique climate and floral source of South-Western Colorado produces outstanding honey for making mead. Our honey is extra light amber in color with primary floral sources of Alfalfa, Tamarisk, Yellow Clover, Safflower, Russian Olive Tree, Rosin Weed, and Rabbit Brush.
The secondary floral sources include a wide variety of wildflowers, mostly in the Asteracae (sunflower), Fabaceae (Pea), and Rosaceae (rose) family. Just to name a few, these can include (in no particular order):
Thistle, Sunflower, Yarrow, Arnica, Aster, Daisy, Dandelion, Fleabane, Goldenrod, Goldenweed, Groundsel, Gumweed, Hawksbeard, Pussytoes, Ragwort, Sage, Wire Lettuce, Jimmyweed, Knapweed, Wild Mustards, Saxifrage, Cleome, Yucca, Cactus, Penstemon, Phlox, Buckwheat, Bladderpod, Black Medic, Breadroot, Golden Banner, Locoweed, Locust, Lupine, Milkvetch, Avens, Cinquefoil, Hawthorn, Apache Plume, Buck Brush, Burnet, Mountain Spray, and Serviceberry.
Our beekeeper blends hives from different locations with honey gathered at different times of the year for a consistent product with a wide array of floral sources.
YEAST, WATER & ADJUNCTS
We use a non-GMO champagne style yeast in our products (unless specified otherwise) for a clean and light product. Our yeast nutrients and fining agents are OMRI certified organic and do not contain animal products such as isinglass, gelatin, or egg whites. Our ingredients are certified organic when available (like our ginger) and we find the best quality when organic is not available (like our hop varieties).
